Nokanyana meaning “little river” opened in 2018 in the uncrowded Mababe Concession, close to the Mababe Pan. The lodge is situated on the banks of the Khwai River and has 10 comfortable tents (including 3 family tents) surrounded by Mopane Forest, and overlooking the waterway running in front of the camp, which acts as a magnet for game in the area. Each tent has a small deck and indoor and outdoor shower, though the views are best from the communal area, which has a boma for evening drinks in front of a fire, a small pool and comfy sofas.
The activity schedule at Nokanyana is very flexible. As well as traditional morning, afternoon or evening game drives soaking up the sounds and sights of the African bush there is the option to join full day trips into either the Moremi Game Reserve or the Savute area of Chobe National Park. Guided bush walks are also available – really getting up close with nature as you learn about the local area.
Nokanyana can be accessed by air or by road from Maun.
