Having visited a wide range of safari accommodations across Southern Africa, it is difficult to think of anywhere that matches the luxury and size of the four tents at Zarafa Camp. Each covers 1,000 square feet, segmented into three different rooms: a lounge with colonial antiques and furnishings; a bedroom with vast, comfortable beds and stylish upholstery; and an en-suite bathroom with double basins, a copper bath tub and separate shower. Moving outside, the luxury continues, with a long, private deck where you’ll find sitting areas, a plunge pool and an ingenious outside shower, sectioned off to ensure privacy and designed so that the hot water hits you from all angles! Unsurprisingly, the finishing touch is a digital camera and Swarovski binoculars, provided for each tent.
Overlooking the Zibadianja Lagoon, the main canvas lodge has a lounge with vintage safari era antiques, a bar and a choice of indoor and al fresco dining areas. There is also a small open air “jungle gym” where guests can pedal on an exercise bike and strike a punchbag while watching animals on the floodplains. Activities by vehicle or on foot are tailored to suit the exclusive, whatever your pleasure atmosphere of camp. Zarafa is so over the top that you have to give in to the barrage of pampering, book yourself a massage and love the whole experience!
