The three Linyanti reserves boast some of Africa’s densest wildlife populations, so game drives within any of them are undisputed highlights of Botswana itineraries. Extended game drives with top guides are always included in your Linyanti safari at the top camps. It’s usually an early start for breakfast before setting off on a drive as the sun slowly rises: a cool but utterly enchanting time to be on the road, as the bush slowly wakes up and wildlife emerges to face the day. There are frequent stops to view animals, learn about the flora and fauna from your guide, take photographs and enjoy refreshments.

The Linyanti’s most exclusive camps are in private concessions with a network of routes that you will have almost entirely to yourself. Unlike the Moremi Reserve, there are few restrictions on off-road driving and night drives are normally possible. The exact animals that you will see can depend on the concession: the Kwando Reserve is renowned for wild dog sightings; the Selinda Reserve has huge herds of elephant and buffalo, trailed by opportunistic prides of lion; and the Linyanti Reserve is a real all-rounder, with water loving birds and animals attracted by the now-flowing Savute Channel.
