Wilderness Safaris’ Duma Tau and Savuti Camps utilise a selection of excellent wildlife hides in the game rich Linyanti Concession. Normally used for languid, mid-afternoon game viewing, guests staying for three nights or longer at either camp can opt to sleep out in one of the hides to gain an intimate, visceral understanding of the after dark sounds, smells and ambience of the bush. The hide is elevated above the ground, both to permit outstanding views out to the wildlife and so that animals can’t gain access when guests are overnighting. It is equipped with bed rolls, mosquito nets and a long-drop toilet, while a scout will be stationed close by so that you can alert them should you have any pressing needs during the night.

Guests that book out a private vehicle can enjoy a high degree of flexibility in timings for this experience, but for those that don’t, an evening game drive with other camp guests will end at the hide for the couple that have booked the sleepout. You will then be picked up early in the morning for breakfast and a morning activity with other guests, during which you will undoubtedly have numerous nocturnal stories to tell.
